Job Description

MEDICAL ASSISTANT

The Medical Assistant is primarily responsible for enhancing the overall efficiency of doctors in our busy medical and surgical dermatology practice that provides care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

The Medical Assistant is a patient advocate professional in a team approach and serves as a "communication liaison" between provider and patient. The Medical Assistant offers a supportive and caring environment for patients.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Some evenings/Saturdays included
  • Prepare exam rooms
  • Greet patients and facilitate patient flow
  • Obtain, evaluate & record detailed patient history
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient chart
  • Protect patients' rights & privacy with all communication & medical records
  • Anticipate, setup for, & assist in patient exams & surgical procedures
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients
  • Give patients pre & post-op instructions
  • Process specimens & coordinate lab reports
  • Assist in providing diagnostic, prescription, & skin care education to patients
  • Review biopsy & lab results with patients; provide education & help initiate follow-up care
  • Coordinate & schedule patient care
  • Clean & sterilize instruments
  • Demonstrate flexibility to assist and support all other staff members
