Job Description
U.S. Career Institute has over 40 years of experience as a postsecondary (and more recently as 9-12) distance education school providing quality, entry-level occupational training. We design and produce much of our content internally so we can prepare students for success as distance learners and graduates. Our content is written in a step-by-step, engaging style to help our students achieve stated outcomes. U.S. Career Institute is seeking a curriculum project manager/instructional designer to manage assigned content areas.
While online teaching background is helpful, this is an instructional design position and will focus on content design and implementation. Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and manage online course development and revision projects
- Manage content area with an eye toward student persistence
- Bring new program, design, and development ideas to the table
- Ensure sound, engaging content
- Identify and engage with qualified contractors (writers, subject matter experts, etc.)
- Inform relevant company departments about new and revised courses/programs
- Use WDL instructional design processes for quality content
- Load and ensure quality LMS presentation of content
- Organize eBook options for purchased textbooks
- Produce content appropriate to the audience
- Work with instructors and subject matter experts to enhance and improve existing content
- Use reports to indicate student stop points to determine how to help students progress in their studies
- Review student surveys and apply necessary revisions to the content as a result
Qualifications:
- Must have instructional design experience in a postsecondary online environment (prefer at least 2 years)
- Possesses broad knowledge of instructional development and design as well as instructional best practices (prefer at least 2 years)
- Experience in designing, revising and editing curricula (prefer at least 2 years)
- Project management experience (prefer at least 2 years)
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities and adapt to changes in priorities
- Prefer master's degree in related fields (instructional design, curriculum development, etc.)
EOE. Salary is negotiable and depends on experience. The minimum starting hourly rate is $29.81. This is a full-time position with benefits. Benefits include: health and life insurance, paid vacation/sick/holiday, 401(k) investment options, flex plan and dental and vision insurance options.
