Cellar Worker
We are carefully recruiting to add to our small, fast-paced cellar team. Although the winery is located near Santa Barbara, we are fortunate to work with top-pedigree Napa, Sonoma, and Lake County vineyards. It is an exciting time to join our winery. Our business model offers stability and consistency when the rest of the wine industry is experiencing instability and uncertainty.
This is a full-time hourly position working a weekly 4 x 10-hour shift, non-harvest. We offer the best of both worlds, with the resources of a large established winery and the attention to quality and detail of a boutique 9th-generation family-owned winery.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities (but not limited to):
• Under limited supervision, perform and complete all non-kosher cellar operations, including sanitation, set up, and breakdown of all cellar activities.
• Operate machinery as needed after following appropriate safety instructions.
• Review and become familiar with reserve winemaking procedures and wine industry best practices.
• Alert the Cellar Master or Winemaker if a procedure does not reflect current practices.
You will be qualified for this role if you meet these requirements (But not limited to)
• 1 to 3 years of directly related experience. Fork-lift experience is a plus.
• Ability to read and execute a work order and double-check calculations as instructed
• Ability to communicate effectively in the predominately used language.
• Ability to lift and move 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, ascend, and descend stairs.
• Must be able to work long hours (14 hours max per day) during the busy season.
• Must be mechanically inclined and safety-driven.
This position requires a results-driven, independent thinker who is organized, detail-oriented, flexible, a proactive communicator, and can work independently and be a member of a fast-paced team. Must be open to working in a highly change-oriented work environment. Ability to lead by example, effectively and positively collaborate, and motivate within multiple departments.
