Job Description

Summary

The Civil Designer I will assist senior designers and engineers in the preparation of civil design plans, drawings, and other project documentation for various infrastructure projects.

Essential Job Functions

Design & Drafting

• Assist in the preparation of civil engineering design drawings, including grading plans, utility layouts and roadways using CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.).
• Develop and revise plans based on project specifications, guidelines, and input from senior designers.

Project Support & Documentation

• Prepare and update design documentation, such as drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Assist with the preparation of design calculations and material lists.
• Maintain organized records and project files for easy retrieval.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work under the guidance of senior designers and engineers to complete design tasks.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.

Site & Field Support

• Conduct site visits to gather data, take measurements, and perform field inspections to verify design assumptions.
• Assist in the preparation of reports for site assessments and project documentation.

Requirements

Experience Required

• 0-3 Years of experience using AutoCAD

Education Required

• High School Diploma
• Drafting/Design technical training or certification is preferred.

Skills

• Excellent attention-to-detail skills
• Good verbal and written communication
• Basic proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (e.g., drafting, simple alignments, and profiles).
• Understanding of civil engineering fundamentals (grading, drainage, and utilities).
• Ability to interpret construction plans, topographic maps, and survey data.
• Basic knowledge of GIS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Exposure to local, state, and federal design standards.
